Jo offers the following assessments and services:

Cognitive Ability

Also called intelligence tests, these assessments help young people by identifying their cognitive strengths and weaknesses to provide valuable insight into how they solve complex problems and process information from the world around them.

Academic Achievement

An assessment of academic achievement can identify the academic strengths and weaknesses of a student to assist in the design of instructional objectives, to plan interventions and to inform decisions regarding educational placement.

Learning Difficulties and Specific Learning Disorders

15-20% of students experience some degree of learning difficulty with reading, writing and/or mathematics. A further 3-5% of students have a Specific Learning Disorder in one or more of these areas. An assessment for these concerns informs the selection of the most appropriate type and level of intervention to enhance the development of skills in these areas.

Academic Giftedness

Students of exceptional ability or potential often need special education programs or resources not available in the regular classroom. An assessment for academic giftedness helps to identify the unique strengths and weaknesses of an exceptionally bright child, to inform decisions regarding educational placement, to assist in the diagnosis of twice exceptionality and to discern factors which may contribute to underachievement or low motivation.

Intellectual Disability

A young person with an intellectual disability will experience impairments in personal, social, academic or occupational functioning. An assessment for intellectual disability informs decisions about educational placement, appropriate interventions and eligibility for NDIS support.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental condition that may significantly impair functioning across multiple contexts. Assessing for ADHD can identify a young person’s strengths and difficulties and inform intervention planning to ameliorate the impact of ADHD in daily living.

School/Teacher Liaison

Jo is available to discuss, with parental permission, recommendations with school personnel, by phone, teleconference or on campus (geographic limits apply).

School/Community Observation

Jo is available to observe the young person in school or community settings (geographic limits apply).

Post-Assessment Consultation

Jo offers a free 30-minute phone consultation within 2 weeks of the feedback session to answer any questions you may have about the assessment or the report. Jo also offers additional consultation sessions for clients who would like further information or support after the assessment.
